FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: Laurie Wood, Marketing Specialist NC Pecan Growers Association’s Meeting, Workshop and Orchard Tour Planned for February 14 RALEIGH – The North Carolina Pecan Growers Association will host its 15th annual educational workshop and orchard tour on Saturday, February 14 at the Duplin County Center in Kenansville, NC. The workshop will include presentations from local pecan growers and North Carolina State University Cooperative Extension specialists. Mr. Monte Nesbitt, pecan specialist from Auburn University will be the guest speaker and will interact with growers throughout the day. The North Carolina Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services’ Marketing Division will also have a representative available to interact with attendees. Late season orchard management and the harvesting process will be addressed and is expected to be of special interest following the heavy 2008 pecan crop. Other program topics will vary and will be designed to meet the interest levels of all in attendance. Chemical companies and other suppliers of pecan related items are invited to join the program and exhibit products. The program will conclude at the orchard of Mr. Frank Thomas in Beulaville, just east of the meeting site. The event is open to the public. Cost is $15 and includes lunch. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. at theDuplin County Center the day of the workshop.
